We're delighted that Junction 8 Theatre, one of our Associate Companies, is to tour a new play about Lancashire by its people across the county this spring. Lancastrians features the real words of some of the 500 people interviewed by the Chorley-based theatre company.

Their stories and thoughts about Lancashire life will be told by three actors, including Lancaster-based Roberta Kerr, playing a multitude of characters.

From the familiar to the extraordinary, Lancastrians will create a snapshot of everyday life in the county.

It premieres at Chorley Town Hall from April 16-20 before touring to Burnley Library from April 22-24; Plungington Community Centre in Preston from April 26-28; The Dukes from May 1-4 and Stanley Park Visitors Centre in Blackpool from May 6-8 before ending its run at The Artz Centre in Skelmersdale from May 9-11.

Each of these towns and cities will feature in the play which has been created by the brother and sister who founded Junction 8 – Nick and Liz Stevenson.

Both born and bred in Whittle-Le-Woods, Liz and Nick are very proud of their Lancashire roots and produce shows inspired by and reflecting local communities.

“We want to make brand new, locally-inspired professional theatre experiences performed in non-traditional theatre spaces in Lancashire,” said Liz. “We strongly believe that the arts can transform people’s lives and that great theatre can and should be for everyone.”

As the audience arrive at each venue, they will be able to purchase some local food and drink and be invited to add their own photographs, written memories and opinions about Lancashire to the set.
