The Dukes annual Green Screen programme is about to begin!
This is a season of films that celebrates the natural world and explores themes of sustainability and our connection with the environment.

Chris Noonan and George Miller's beloved adaptation of Dick King-Smith's classic children's novel, celebrates its 30th anniversary in 2025

Ocean with David Attenborough (U)
Ocean with David Attenborough takes viewers on a breathtaking journey showing there is nowhere more vital for our survival, more full of life, wonder, or surprise, than the ocean. In the film the celebrated broadcaster and filmmaker reveals how his lifetime has coincided with the great age of ocean discovery. Through spectacular sequences featuring coral reefs, kelp forests and the open ocean, Attenborough shares why a healthy ocean keeps the entire planet stable and flourishing.

The Salt Path (12A)
The profound true story of husband and wife, Raynor and Moth Winn’s 630-mile trek along the beautiful but rugged Cornish, Devon and Dorset coastline.

Wind, Tide & Oar (PG)
Wind, Tide & Oar is a compelling exploration of engineless sailing, shot on analogue film over three years. The film delves into the experiences of those who travel solely by harnessing the natural elements alone, following a diverse array of traditional boats and uncovering the unique rhythms and motivations of engineless navigation.

Escape from Extinction: Rewilding (12A)
This inspiring but unflinching documentary delves into rewilding, a conservation approach that aims to restore natural ecosystems and increase biodiversity by minimizing human impact, highlighting its potential to bring back hundreds of thousands of species from the brink of extinction.

A New Kind of Wilderness (12A) + Recorded Q&A
On a small farm in a Norwegian forest, the Paynes live a purposefully isolated life, aiming to be wild and free. They practice home-schooling and strive for a closely-knit family dynamic in harmony with nature. However, when tragedy strikes the family, it upends their idyllic world and forces them to forge a new path into modern society.

The Line We Crossed (15) + Q&A
For two years Liz Smith documented how the right to protest in the UK is under threat and how environmental defenders, in particular, are being targeted. She has witnessed first hand how they are being silenced in court, criminalised and are receiving disproportionate punishments for protest.
