For two years Liz Smith documented how the right to protest in the UK is under threat and how environmental defenders, in particular, are being targeted. She has witnessed first hand how they are being silenced in court, criminalised and are receiving disproportionate punishments for protest.
The Line We Crossed is a British story of dissent told from the frontlines from the perspective of the climate activists. It traces how we have lost essential protest rights and challenges audiences to question what makes dissent effective and where the line of acceptability is.
As we fail to address the climate crisis, activists cross the line into civil disobedience with chilling consequences for their lives and our protest rights.
