Join us to celebrate the centenary of M.R. James’ influential ghost story A Warning to the Curious, with a screening of the best cinematic adaptation of the author’s work.
Jacques Tourneur’s meticulously constructed film follows American psychologist Dr. John Holden as he arrives in England to debunk a satanic cult led by the urbane yet menacing Dr. Julian Karswell. When Karswell slips Holden a runic parchment, undefinable cosmic forces begin to collect around him.
After the screening, we will be followed by a live on-stage discussion with The Ghost Story Book Club Podcast team. The discussion will be led by Adam Z. Robinson, author and researcher Brontë Schiltz , and Lancaster University Professor Catherine Spooner.
