The Journey Café Prefers Marilyn
Marilyn Monroe makes another appearance at our Journey Café this April.
The film icon stars in Gentlemen Prefer Blondes(PG) which is screened on April 13 as part of a series of arts events at The Dukes presented in association with Age UK Lancashire for people with memory problems and their families.
This is the second Journey Café screening to feature Marilyn Monroe following Some Like It Hot which was shown in October.
Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, which includes the famous routine – Diamonds Are A Girl’s Best Friend – follows singers Lorelei Lee and Dorothy Shaw as they travel to Paris pursued by a private detective hired by the disapproving father of Lorelei’s fiancé to keep an eye on her.
The screening, which is open to all, begins at 2pm and beforehand there is chance to socialise in our Café Bar and enjoy free tea/coffee and pastries available to all ticketholders.
During the screening some changes are made to lighting and sound to ensure that a comfortable environment is created.
The Journey Café is a pioneering scheme which has attracted national publicity including a feature on Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.
Tickets for Gentlemen Prefer Blondes are £4 including tea/coffee and a pastry. An accompanying carer/family member goes free.
