Film Fun In The Park
It's not just top quality outdoor drama we're bringing to Williamson Park this summer...
We're also planning a season of outdoor film screenings.
The magic of cinema can be experienced in the atmospheric Dell from August 19-22 at 8.30pm.
This special series of screenings follows our cinema’s successful debut in the park three years ago.
The 2015 outdoor season kicks off on August 19 with Cinema Paradiso (PG), a glorious love letter to filmmaking and the joys of the silver screen. A filmmaker recalls his childhood when he fell in love with films at his village’s cinema and formed a deep friendship with the projectionist. Brave film fans should be prepared to be scared when It Follows (15) is screened on August 20.
For 19-year-old Jay, autumn should be about school, boys and weekends out at the lake. But after spending the night with her boyfriend, she finds herself plagued by strange visions and the inescapable sense that someone or something, is following her.
Another haunting classic – and a landmark film of silent cinema - Nosferatu (PG) is an iconic take on the story of Dracula. The film, screened on August 21, will be accompanied by a live score, composed and performed by Lancaster-based duo Lee Affen and Ric Smithson.
The season concludes with Wes Anderson’s awardwinning film, The Grand Budapest Hotel (15). Ralph Fiennes stars as a legendary concierge who, along with his new lobby boy, finds himself on the run after a favoured guest bequeaths him a priceless painting.
The Dukes outdoor screenings, which are supported by Film Hub North West Central, follow the run of our outdoor walkabout production of Oliver Twist from July 3-August 15.
Tickets for each film are priced £10/£9 concessions (a £1 per transaction fee applies to online bookings).
