An intimate family drama about navigating separation and complexities of love, art and relationships, from Pioneering Icelandic filmmaker and artist Hlynur Pálmason

Set against the stunning backdrop of Iceland’s fjords and landscapes, spanning the seasons of a year, The Love That Remains captures moments within the life of Anna and Magnús’s family.

Following his critically acclaimed historical epic Godland, this is perhaps a surprising change of pace for Hlynur Pálmason's filmmaking. In this deepening of his practice emerges one of his most accessible and relatable films to date - whilst keeping his signature visual eye at the heart of the story.

Through intimate vignettes that range from tender and soft to strange and obscure, the film beautifully explores the complexities of family, art, love, relationships and life at large.
