LA1 Shorts builds on its trusted reputation of high-quality films with a warm, people focused, friendly approach, and developing our strong partnership with The Dukes Theatre.  

Adventures don’t have to be on the other side of the world, they can be challenging in different ways, just ordinary people doing extraordinary things, like in our pilot event special selection, all epic challenges in their own right.  

“Ride the Line”. Mathew Reese  

We follow two friends, cyclists Bradley and Mike as they ride a monumental 300 km in one day from Gloucester to Elland Road in Leeds, all to raise money for a recovering family member."

“Skate Like a Lass”. Juliet Klottrup 

This mini documentary shines a light on inclusive grassroots skateboarding communities in Northern England, that connect female, marginalised and LGBTQI+ individuals, and addressing gaps in representation, participation, and historical documentation within skateboarding.  

These groups have created safe spaces and welcoming environments, where skating is a tool for empowerment, unlocking freedom and where failure is accepted and celebrated as a rite of passage.

“Concrete Summer”. Jacob Watson 

Robbo is just one of the riders who is passionate about what he does. Concrete Summer showcases the UKs vibrant and exciting underground fixed gear racing scene. It's an adrenaline ride for sure, no brakes and no filters, but these guys are spreading the word... “Do what you love!"

“Perimeter of Britain”. Chris Hall & Jack Hague 

An epic 6,500 km adventure, cycling around the coast of mainland Britain in 30 days, all to raise money for “Movember” and mental health awareness. Followed by a live Q&A with Chris himself. 

In Chris's words; "I set myself challenges. Each time more and more unrealistic. I make them daunting, often terrifying. But it doesn't matter how hard they are because I share my journey; my family and friends are the backbone of what I achieve. I ride to work, the shops, sometimes across the country. I ride always".
