A Black-founded and Black-led organisation, Tomorrow’s Warriors offers a free-to-access programme of learning and training, which champions and supports young Black and female talent and those who come from challenging circumstances.

We are very excited to be partnering with them to present this Warriors Rise showcase, featuring two of the emerging artists who have come through their pioneering programs.

Donovan Haffner

Tomorrow’s Warriors Emerging Artist Donovan Haffner is one of the best-kept secrets on the London jazz scene. His special brand of vitally exciting contemporary jazz shines through on his recently released debut album: Alleviate.

When playing live, the drive and sophistication of his alto saxophone transcends his age as he leads his band through interpretations of the music he loves, showcasing his very distinctive compositional style.

Maddy Coombs

Another transfixing Tomorrow’s Warriors Emerging Artist, Maddy Coombs, is an excellent and dynamic tenor saxophonist from Northampton, equally influenced by jazz greats, like John Coltrane and Art Blakey, and the thriving UK jazz scene.

Her music focuses on storytelling, giving the band and herself space to explore ideas and communicate on a deeper level. She is building a reputation as a brilliant composer and arranger and is heavily tipped as a rising talent by Jazzwise.
