The bestselling Sinclair’s Mysteries series is filled with wonder and charm. The first book, The Clockwork Sparrow, set in an Edwardian department store, is a captivating mystery with page-turning intrigue, dazzling period-detail and a wonderfully endearing lead-character. It was shortlisted for the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and is described by Katherine Rundell, author of Impossible Creatures, as ‘A wonderful book, with a glorious heroine and a true spirit of adventure’.
The book celebrates its 10th anniversary in 2025 and we are delighted to welcome author Katherine Woodfine for a special celebratory event and to launch a new Sinclair’s Mystery, Secrets on the Shore.
Katherine Woodfine is a Lancaster-based and hugely knowledgeable champion of children’s books and reading. As well as being a much-loved author, Katherine has worked for Book Trust supporting the Children’s Laureates and is one of the founding members of Down the Rabbithole, a children’s book radio show and podcast. Litfest is proud that Katherine is also this year’s Reader in Residence and one of its Literary Advisers.
