Litfest & Wayleave Press

Poetry Pamphlet Competition – Shortlist Reading

MC’d by Eoghan Walls

Join us for a special session of poetry read by poets shortlisted in Litfest‘s Pamphlet Poetry competition, in partnership with Wayleave Press.

At Litfest 2024 in March we invited poets from the north-west to submit three poems from sequences they were working on. We were overwhelmed with more than 30 submissions; 10 poets read from their work at Litfest 2024. Now, in partnership with Wayleave Press, we are inviting the north-west’s poets to submit complete pamphlets. Ten of these will be shortlisted, and after the event 3 of them will be selected by our judges Ian Duhig and Jane Routh for publication at Litfest 2025.

Eoghan Walls teaches English Literature and Creative Writing at Lancaster University. He has published two poetry collections with Seren, The Salt Harvest and Pigeon Songs, and the novel The Gospel of Orla.

How to Submit

* The deadline for pamphlet submissions is 28 September 2024

* Submissions should contain between 16 and 20 pages of poems to make a pamphlet of 24 pages

* 10 poets will be shortlisted and invited to read at this special event

* Later in the autumn the work of 3 of the shortlisted poets will be selected for publication

* The 3 pamphlets will be launched at a special event at Litfest 2025

To enter, go to www.litfest.org/pamphlet-poetry and share your poems with us by 28 September 2024. Terms and conditions apply.
