The Lancaster University Creative Writing Student Showcase

With Oliver K. Langmead

Join us for 90 minutes of inspired new writing, as a selection of Creative Writing students from Lancaster University perform excerpts from their works in progress. The session features an exciting, eclectic mixture of forms and styles – from short stories and extracts from novels, to poetry both on the page and for performance, and more unusual forms like scripts, graphic novels and even games.

Past Lancaster University Creative Writing students include: Andrew McMillan, winner of The Guardian First Book Award 2015; Daisy Johnson, youngest ever author shortlisted for the Man Booker Prize, 2018; Jennifer Nansubuga Makumbi, winner of the Windham-Campbell Prize in Fiction, 2018; Camille Ralphs, poetry editor of The TLS; Nguyễn Phan Quế Mai, author of The Mountains Sing; and Andrew Miller whose The Land in Winter was shortlisted for the 2025 Booker Prize.

This event is a brilliant opportunity to get a glimpse of a new generation of writers.
