Lancaster-based photographer and filmmaker Darren Andrews introduces his celebrated film, Starlings: Iridescent Black, which has been newly edited especially for Litfest, with brand new footage filmed over the last 12 months.
His acclaimed visual symphony records in a series of stunning, swooping and swirling images the birds in their haunts in Blackpool, Carnforth and, above all, at RSPB Leighton Moss in Silverdale.

Darren Andrews is a photographer and film-maker who has worked for national and local newspapers and magazines and now specialises in freelance assignments. He has exhibited at galleries throughout the UK. His book Murmur was self-published in 2021 and a new edition was published in 2024
