‘No one would have believed, in the last years of the nineteenth century, that this world was being watched keenly and closely by intelligences greater than man’s and yet as mortal as his own…’
Thus begins The War of the Worlds that still captures the imagination over 120 years later, and no more so than in imitating the dog’s stage adaptation at The Dukes and in Chris Mould’s electrifying graphic novel edition of H.G. Wells’ classic novel.
At this out-of-the-world event, Chris will reveal how he reinvented H. G. Wells’s classic tale of Martian invasion through his characteristically gothic, expressive pen and ink illustrations, while Andrew Quick, scriptwriter and a co-founder of imitating the dog, goes behind the scenes to explain how the company adapted the novel for its acclaimed show.
Author:
Chris Mould is an author and illustrator acclaimed for his edition of Ted Hughes’ classic story The Iron Man and for his collaborations with Matt Haig, including A Boy Called Christmas.
Andrew Quick is a founder member of imitating the dog and leads on writing for the company. He has directed a number of productions and also teaches at Lancaster Institute of Contemporary Arts (LICA) at Lancaster University.
