Hailed as 'the ultimate Broadway musical from the golden age’ (Financial Times), Kiss Me, Kate is a simple love story...about two people who just can't stand each other!
Starring multi-award-winner Adrian Dunbar (Line of Duty, Ridley) and Tony Award-winning Broadway royalty Stephanie J. Block (Into The Woods, The Cher Show) in her West End debut, this dynamite duo head the summer’s hottest cast alongside Olivier nominee Charlie Stemp (Crazy For You, Mary Poppins), Georgina Onuorah (The Wizard of Oz, Oklahoma), Nigel Lindsay (Victoria, Shrek The Musical), Hammed Animashaun (A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Black Ops) and Peter Davison (Dr Who, All Creatures Great and Small). With backstage shenanigans, Shakespearean sonnets and singing gangsters – not to mention a romance that’s just too darn hot – and a full-scale orchestra performing Cole Porter classics, this all-singing, all-dancing musical comedy is London’s must-see show of the summer.
The original Broadway production of Kiss Me, Kate ran for over 1,000 performances and is regarded as one of the greatest musical comedies ever written. A love letter to the theatre which links Shakespeare and showbiz – the original Noises Off ‘play within a play’ – it was the crowning achievement of Cole Porter’s long and celebrated career. This new production staged at the Barbican in London is directed by Bartlett Sher (The King and I, South Pacific), choreographed by Anthony Van Laast (Mamma Mia!, Sister Act) with costume design from Catherine Zuber (Moulin Rouge).
